First ever mobile lottery services in Brazil

Rok Brazil Technologies – a joint venture company of Rok Corporation and Fingerprint is to create and operate Brazil’s first ever SMS lottery services.

Rok Corporation is a British -based creator, licensor and distributor of mobile phone content will be providing the lottery technology and gaming engine. Fingerprint, a lottery ticket and game products provider in Brazil for several State Lotteries will be focusing more on the marketing and implementation of the partnership in Brazil.

With every handset being, in effect, a lottery terminal, people are able to play the lottery via SMS without having to visit a ticket distributor. In addition, winners can be notified directly and automatically.

"Quite simply, playing the lottery on your mobile is a very convenient, practical and secure way of doing it" added Kendrick.

In addition, ROK will also supply the joint venture company in Brazil with an extensive portfolio of content for mobile downloads to include ringtones, `realtones', wallpapers, logos and JAVA games as well as their library of film clips and animations which the public can buy direct from a new website to be launched later this year.

Early this year, Rok had also launched first ever SMS-based lotto for the Chinese market:

Urban Music awards go mobile

MOBO – Europe’s biggest urban music awards is offering updates of the ceremony via SMS, as well as giving fans to download polyphonic ringtones of tracks by nominated artists. The service is provided by Buongiorno.

Buongiorno Vitaminic provides a white label solution that includes music downloads such as truetones and full MP3 tracks.

Indian operators cashing in on religious festival

Whilst Maharashtrians were busy celebrating Ganesh Utsav last week, Indian operators were busy cashing on the popular week long festival by offering related mobile content services such as video clips of aarti, puja ringtones, Ganesha logos and even SMS puja offerings e.t.c These services were offered by Airtel, BPL Mobile, Reliance Infocomm and Tata Indicom.

Ganesh Chaturthi is the biggest festival in Maharashtra. The god is believed to visit the homes of devotees and stay there for 10 days. Community celebrations, pujas and cultural events mix into an extravagant carnival.

m-connected launches horse racing betting game

The V-Bet mobile shows an entire horse race on a mobile handset. The game is developed in partnership with South African virtual racing firm – Kiron Interactive, whose clients include UK betting and Ladbrookes. More

The partnership will see m-connected and Kiron jointly marketing the application to licensed bookmakers across the globe. In addition, Kiron has been appointed an exclusive license for marketing of m-connected’s TXT2BET mobile sportsbook application within South Africa.

For bookmakers, the application provides automated odds generation, definable margins, and support for “single account” management. In addition, historical horse and jockey information is recorded to create a “form” database, allowing punters to make an informed decision when placing their bets.
