Fish Eyes, a comical drama revealing the turmoil faced by Canadian teenagers of Indian origin is making waves. The story relates to almost all South Asians who have encountered issues of identity, cultural assimilation and so on. The play is written by Anita Majumdar, a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada.
Meena is a Canadian-born Indian with typical socio-ethnic pressures, forcibly taught traditional arts, expected to perform well in public and be proud of her cultural heritage.
Her Indian dance training originates in Kathak, but she has also studied Bharat Natyam and Odissi. Anita is also a member of the 2005 Tarragon Playwrights Unit. More here. Related:
