Sounds like a winner to me. Judging from Univision, people in Latin America have more of a stomach for melodrama and less aversion to things that might be kitschy. It is very hard to sell Americans on kitschy things -- Americans want "cool" above all else. Thus you get stuck with 1000 Bruce Willis movies, and no "Kal ho naa ho"

In fact, the distributors might want to consider using a film with some A.R. Rahman songs next time -- since Rahman often borrows liberally from Latin music!
