From Asian Babes to Bollyood Films, Richard Desmond certainly seems to have a thing for the Asian community. An in-house production company for the Express Newspapers, Portland Enterprise, is launching a new pay-per-view channel tomorrow on Sky which will offer movies from India. The launch of the Bollywood Films channel represents the first attempt to offer pay-per-view content for the Asian market in the UK....Bollywood Films is the first such channel by Portland Enterprise. It has teamed up with Eros Entertainment, one of the biggest distributors of Bollywood films in the UK, to secure access to a library of new films which it hopes will attract households to stump up the money.
The Channel Manager Sabrina Rahman told Asians in Media: "With so many Asian channels available on Sky, I am confident that Bollywood Films breaks the generic mould, by offering the newest box office smashes exclusively on television before anyone else. Bollywood Films is the first broadcast in widescreen, offering viewers a unique viewing experience in the comfort of their own homes. Additionally, Bollywood Films is a pay-per-view channel so viewers are not tied down to a contract, and only pay for the films they watch."
...The channel will also be hoping some western audiences attracted to Bollywood subscribe to movies instead of having to take out subscriptions to the Asian TV networks. Films will be offered for prices starting at £2.99.
